About

I’m Ashley Errico
and I am a Psychotherapist in Austin,
Texas

Hello! My name is Ashley Errico and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Austin, TX. I have always been passionate about helping people. With my first career in education, I found that my classroom became a revolving door of co-workers looking for support, comfort and advice. I felt honored that they felt safe enough to confide in me and that I could be the sounding board and nurturing presence they sought. It was through that job that I became interested in a career that would allow me to be that support for others and have never looked back since. As a therapist, I find so much joy in walking alongside my clients on their life’s journey and giving them the tools to find their voice and gain insight.

How I work

I love helping women and individuals who had a toxic childhood environment, be it through domineering or narcissistic parents, childhood abuse, or other forms of trauma. With these struggles, my clients often find it difficult to identify and express their own needs and desires without a sense of shame or guilt. The struggle to be true to oneself can often result in the individual becoming a people pleaser and feeding the repetition of more unhealthy relationships. I see my therapy office as a “testing ground” for my clients to experiment with verbalizing their needs, gaining a new perspective and embracing who they are, without the shame and judgement. I believe the therapeutic relationship provides my clients a space to get a sense of what a healthy relationship looks like, with both individuals being allowed to express their feelings without fear of retribution.
Overall, I am passionate about helping my clients feel empowered, reach their goals, and embrace nourishing relationships.

My Counseling Experiences

I have worked as a clinician at the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center, where I counseled women who had dealt with domestic violence and sexual assault. I worked at the YWCA with clients from a wide spectrum of experiences and backgrounds and The San Marcos Treatment Center, which is a residential treatment center for children ages 7-18. I am now happily working in private practice where I am grounded in Attachment and Relational Theories and am Neuroscience informed. I specialize in adult children of narcissistic parents and complex trauma. I also works with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and people pleasing. When helpful, I utilize experiential interventions, such as art, guided meditation and sand tray.
